DESCRIPTION:All windows will be cleaned during the week of August 3rd-August 7th. There will be crews working on the interior/exterior at the same time\, weather permitting. Please see a few notes below on how to prep your workspace and other general reminders:\n  *   For the research floors\, the vendor plans to start on the 4th floor and complete it\, then work their way down to the B1 level.\n  *   All office spaces will be unlocked and entered to clean the glass doors and interior perimeter window. Please have contents moved away from the window/workspace surrounding the window and have shades open if applicable. The vendor will not move items\, so if a space is not ready\, it will not be completed. It’s estimated that each office will take 5-10 minutes if prepped accordingly.\n  *   Paper/posters on office doors\, conference rooms and exterior lab glass will not be removed. Please remove those items if you want those spaces cleaned.\n  *   Any content written in marker on glass will be removed. Please document anything that needs to be retained.\n  *   All exterior lab glass will be cleaned. For workstations that are close to exterior lab glass\, please have items removed from the top of the workstations for easier accessibility. The vendor will not be entering lab spaces.\n  *   The conference room spaces will be entered and cleaned as available.\n  *   Please remove plants from atrium glass ledges and windows.\n  *   The first floor/interior atriums and perimeter spaces will be cleaned throughout the week.

This workshop will focus on listening and empathy!\n\n\nWorkshop Topic: Listening + Empathy \nThis workshop focuses on absorbing information from colleagues and listening for understanding. Activities focus on listening to partners beyond words and distilling messages to core values and beliefs for building bridges with collaborators and the public. \nemotion\, and pivoting when needed. \nThis workshop will take place in room 1145 in the Discovery Building. \nSpace is limited – RSVP required! \n\n\nThese 2-hour workshops are designed for graduate students\, post-docs\, staff\, and faculty in STEM related fields who want to sharpen their ability to communicate effectively and adaptively. In research and industry alike\, ideas often need to be shared in real time with diverse audiences- from colleagues and collaborators to decision-makers and the public. These sessions provide a lively\, low-stakes space to build confidence in handling the unexpected and the ability to pivot one’s communication. Through fun applied improv practice\, participants will experiment with spontaneous speaking\, respond to mistakes\, and network.
