The unique public-private partnerships at the Discovery Building may allow alternative choices for catering depending on the location of your event. Please use this guide below and work with your Discovery Building event coordinator to determine the best choice of catering for your event.

 Catering Options:
Please read through all of the guidance below and work with your event coordinator to determine which option works best for your event.

  • Events with more than 75 attendees are required to work with Steenbock’s On Orchard.
  • Events serving alcohol are required to order through Steenbock’s On Orchard
  • Events with a maximum attendance of 75 or fewer may choose to arrange “grab and go” food options from an outside provider. Example Options: pizza, sub-sandwiches, gyros
  • Food provided must be individually wrapped or portioned per person (except pizza)
  • Shared platters/trays/chafing dishes or any food requiring shared utensils are not permitted
  • Groups choosing to bring in food are to provide all of their own cutlery and dishware
  • The serving of alcohol is not permitted
  • Occupants are responsible for providing a garbage brute for large amounts of trash/food. See Garbage Brute details below.
  • Cleaning charges may apply if food items or trash are not properly disposed of.

Discovery Building occupants are responsible for providing garbage brutes for their events. Brutes are located in B1. Full brutes should be brought to the hallway next to the custodial locker on BI at the end of their event for disposal.

Trash brutes are stored in B1300M. Please add a black liner to the brute before use.

Brute Liners can be found in the Stock Room B1226

At the completion of the event, full brutes should be brought to the B1 level corridor near room B1352 for disposal from custodial.
