There are a lot of rules and regulations for travel at UW-Madison, and they are always changing. Please ask before booking travel. We are here to help!

Before Travel

  • You MUST follow the travel rules or we will not be able to reimburse you. The university has a website dedicated to travel and reimbursement.

  • Traveling for UW and WID

  • If you are driving for business purposes, you must be in the authorized driver database. Register here. This applies to renting a car or getting reimbursed for mileage for your personal vehicle.

  • The Fly America Act requires the use of U.S. carriers such as Delta, United, and American when travel is being paid for with federal funds. For more detailed information please reference the TravelWIse page and the Foreign Flag Carrier Exception Form.
