For me, writing is less a job than it is a practice. It’s something difficult that I show up for increasingly in the hopes of getting better at it. Similar to the practice of meditation (I imagine), new levels of possibilities become visible to the writer the longer they persist. Us writers are the ones who obsess over that glimpse of the next level, having somehow confused it with self-actualization.
